Over the past twenty-two years, the Volunteer Leadership Institute – Hawaii has
established itself as the premier training and networking event for credit union
Directors, Supervisory Committee members and Senior Executives.
This proud tradition
continues in 2020 from January 28th – February 1st at the beautiful Grand Hyatt
Kauai Resort & Spa.
Nationally acclaimed speakers, shared best practices and insights
into the future of the movement will ensure that your volunteers are prepared for
the exciting times ahead.
We encourage you to involve as many of your volunteers and executive team members
as possible so they can share the same information, discuss insights together, create
long-lasting peer relationships and commit to taking action.

Registration includes all Institute materials. Lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. Breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Dinner in Paradise on Friday.
Bonus Session registration includes lunch on Tuesday.

Volunteer Governance Tune-Up
In this fast-paced, interactive session the facilitators will
discuss best practices in ten areas of governance affecting both Board members and
Audit Committee members:
- Compensation for volunteers
- Executive Sessions
- Volunteer competencies and recruitment
- Volunteer evaluation
- Risk oversight
- CEO evaluation
- Community involvement
- Term limits/age limits
- Parliamentary procedures 101
- Fiduciary oversight vs. micromanaging
Each segment will invite input from attendees on what is working
(or isn’t working) at their credit union. We will save time at the end of the session
for additional topics from the floor.
Registered guests are welcome to join us for lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday;
breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Dinner in Paradise on Friday as well
as a Guest orientation and hula lessons.
Your Friday adventure begins when you climb aboard the Kauai
Plantation Railway to join us on our conductor narrated train ride of the 105 acer
Kilohana Plantation. This two-and-a-half-mile authentic narrow gage railroad will
take you through fields of Banana, Papaya, Pineapple, and Taro. You will see Native
Hawaiian hardwood trees like Koa and Milo before you stop at the animal farm to
feed a herd of wild pig’s goats and sheep.
From the animal stop, you will then follow your guide on a
1-mile walking tour around the plantation grounds. You will be stopping frequently
to get an up-close look at the different hardwood trees, tropical fruit trees, and
beautiful exotic flowers & plants that grow here.
You will then relax and enjoy a delicious deli style lunch
where we will cut a fresh pineapple for dessert. Then it's all aboard the train
and back to the depot.
VLI Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be received in writing. Please provide a brief explanation
for the cancellation and submit via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cancellations received more than 30 days prior to the event are subject to a 25%
administrative fee. No refunds will be granted for cancellations received on or
after 30 days prior to the event. Substitutions are accepted prior to the start
of the program.
Attendees can earn continuing professional education credits. This institute meets
the following standards:
- CPE credits earned: up to 23
- Program level: overview
- Delivery method: group-live
- Preparation: no advanced preparation is needed
- Prerequisites: not required for this program
The Rochdale Paragon Group is registered with the National Association of State
Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), as a sponsor of continuing professional education
on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final
authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
